Product Description

Asari Miso Soup Recipe (Miso Soup with Clams)
Ingredients (serves 2):
200 g asari clams
2 cups water
1/2 pack Japanese mushrooms (such as shimeji, enoki or nameko)
1 1/2 tbs miso (to taste)
1 scallion chopped

1. Add the clams and 1 teaspoon of salt to a bowl and cover with water. This will make the clams open and release any sand they contain.
2. Bring the water to boil. Add the mushrooms (or tofu if you prefer).
2.  Add clams and boil for about 2 minutes or until all clams are open.
3. Turn off the heat and add the miso (do not boil the miso) and dissolving the paste in a ladle filled with a little soup first to avoid clumps. Because different types of miso vary in salinity, taste the soup and adjust the miso to taste.
4. Top with the chopped scallion and serve.
